Simplicity in the hues of grey is a concept that sounds modest, but overflows with nobility and comfort. Sober House is an interior design project for an individual house, in which everything is focused on neutral hues. We created an amalgam of hues of the same colour to ensure an aesthetic harmony.
We created a sincere atmosphere of the house, avoiding extravagance and pompous accents. We replaced luxury, in the classic sense of the word, with elegant materials and the functionality of the premises. The walls having sober finishes and strict lines of the storage furniture were balanced by the soft furniture. The generous area of the premises allowed us to integrate in the arrangement all the necessary elements. Thus, different rooms have been reserved for the living premises. The kitchen and dining room were joined into a common space. Here we have a visual division of the space: the kitchen having concise lines and the furniture in the dining area having curved shapes. Lighting fixtures come as obvious elements of this delimitation. Having the same simplicity of lines, they represent a geometric play where two different areas are distinguished.
The procedure of combining strict lines and attenuating them with soft furniture and textiles is used throughout the entire house, both in the living room and in the bedrooms. Neutral hues, subtle lighting fixtures, noble textiles and functional zoning are the general characteristics of the premises. Alongside with these, glass as an element that ensures ephemerality was used in the concept. The feeling of transparency arises right from the stairwell and is present almost in all premises.
The same stylistic line is also found in the premises located in the basement. The only exceptions are the sauna and the cellar, which have been arranged in their classic version. Even so, they are united by the common space, where we have the same grey colour, warmed by textures and the play of lights.
