Lacking extravagance and contemporary volume, in the innovative sense of the concept, this facade redesign project becomes a modern interpretation of architecture with characteristic features of the area. The pitched roof predisposed an approach where the modern takes cues from the traditional, yet does not merge with it.
The existing structure allowed us to approach it creatively and achieve, through well-thought-out modifications, a project that conveys a sense of subtle comfort and nobility. Without major interventions, our goal was to refresh the facade. Since the forms were predetermined, we relied on playing with textures to add dimensionality. However, we allowed ourselves to add geometric space by extending the ground floor into an exterior wall, dividing the courtyard in two. The front part of the ground floor and the exterior structure were finished with stone. This provides a sense of durability and safety, becoming a symbol of fortitude that protects the residents. We kept the rest of the facade gray, which allowed us to create a harmonious integration base for other elements.
At the same time, it was necessary to avoid creating a gloomy and heavy appearance. Here, glass came to our aid. Also on the ground floor, we widened the windows, creating vertical balance. Thanks to the transparency it provides, the material lends lightness to the dwelling. The glass balustrade on the upper floor allowed us to continue the verticality. Thus, we created a play of lines. At the same time, the wooden pillars support the idea of naturalness and emphasize the height.
